Recruiting-related Topics:: Twitter - content (more than just a job feed)
"Which would you say is the better practice - make a company careers twitter account or have a recruiter id associated with a specific person or people?

I always prefer the personal touch, but a more basic user who uses Find Friend will not know "John Smith" means careers at "XYZ Company". So I could go either way. What do you think? "

In my opinion, neither will actually work for you. Whether it's from a person or a corporate account, the broadcasting strategy is no different that posting the job on Monster or CB. As long as you treat Twitter like a job board, you shouldn't expect any different result. The more desperate the candidate, the more likely they'll subscribe to your feed or find your job on that board. By the way, there's no "personal touch" to sending a broadcast with dozens of jobs.

Define unique, relevant content to share with your followers, and that will drive your communication strategy. The content you are sharing will help you decide if it should be personal or corporate careers that sends the information. For example, a company news brief should come from the company. But, resume writing advice would probably be best from a person.

Recruiting-related Topics:: Facebook Page for Recruiting
Do you know of any case studies of companies using Facebook (pages) for recruiting?

I am looking for stats and figures...if possible.

I'm blogging again...a wrote a new post - "Content for Your Facebook Careers Page" - http://mnonlinevideo.com/2010/05/content-for-your-facebook-careers-page/ - for companies using Facebook. I wrote this mostly based on what I saw others were doing already.

Recruiting-related Topics:: Is MNTRN still having meetings?
We have a great meeting scheduled for April 9 - check it out! And, as Tia said, if you didn't get the email about this meeting, please let us know as we probably don't have an accurate email address for you. We, on the Education Committee, are always open to your suggestions and topic ideas! Hope to see you on the 9th!

Pat Bannochie
Education Committee Chair

Recruiting-related Topics:: How to promote our IT talents to the vendors?
Our subsidiary unit, a job-oriented IT training schools produces a big pool of skilled IT candidates and need to be marketed. I was thinking to organize a job fair by inviting several vendors?

Any thought on this?

Thanks

Paul
Institute of Technical Education / ITUpdates, Inc.
7900 International Drive, Suite 35
Bloomington, MN 55425
paul@instituteusa.com
952-583-4877

Re: How o you get buy in from Managers to hire talent not skills [by tiacam]

Recruiting-related Topics:: How o you get buy in from Managers to hire talent not skills
That's pretty tough given the current economic market, the feeling that every department is under-resourced, and in OFCCP times. During the interview process, I might ask the hiring manager whether they have someone who could spend more time up-front training the person how to use a system, or whether they preferred to spend more time on the back-end coaching the person how to become a strategic thinker (or whatever softskills are missing from the technically qualified candidates).

One work-around that we've employed is recommending the person for a "bench hire" not allocated to a particular requisition. Certainly this isn't feasible in every case...

Hope something works out (if this is a specific situation)~

Hello Rebecca!

I'm sorry it has been some time since I posted this and at the time was trying to help a friend of mine that was looking to work for lifetime and wanted to see if you would spend a few minutes talking to this person. You mentioned, "at the time" Have you since moved on?

Give me call when you have the time - I'd love to chat.

Thanks,

Andrew W.
